Commenting on the plans announced by Mark Thompson, Director-General of the BBC, to close BBC Radio 6 Music, Ben Bradshaw, the Culture Secretary, said: “I welcome that the BBC is thinking hard about what it does and where it should focus in future, but politicians should avoid compromising the BBC’s independence by giving a running [...] Hard to see the idea of holding an inquiry in public ‘whenever possible’ as undesirable, isn’t it?
